Daifuku Airport Technologies has reported successful early operations at its Shiga innovation and test centre, which went live in early 2017.
The Japanese facility includes a range of Daifuku baggage-handling technologies - such as tilt-tray sorters (TTS), its Baggage Tray System (BTS) solution that enables tote-based inline screening, and an early bag store with Daifuku crane technology.
"Bringing Daifuku's innovation in crane technology - 25,000 units are installed globally - into an airport environment enables substantive improvements," remarked Ron Osborne, managing director of UK subsidiary Daifuku Logan.
Shiga also features full high- and low-level controls with SYM3 3D visualisation to simulate live airport operations.
