ITW GSE company AXA Power has developed a compact version of its AXA 3400 modular preconditioned air (PCA) unit, which was originally launched in 2016 to deliver up to 210 kg/minute.
The smaller variant of AXA PCA 3400 has a maximum output of 130 kg/minute. It weighs 3.3 tonnes, compared with 4.5 tonnes for the larger unit.
Both variants of the AXA PCA 3400 use variable frequency-drive (VFD) technology that enables efficient power consumption (and hence lower surface emissions at airports). VFD allows the discharge temperature to be regulated easily and precisely.
To improve narrowbody and widebody aircraft turnaround times, the AXA PCA 3400 also features identical cooling modules that are designed for easy swapping by technicians in less than 20 minutes.
