The largest airport logistics facility in Japan employs around 2,000 people - but four times as much manpower would have been required if Haneda Chronogate had not incorporated so much advanced technology into its design.
Located near the perimeter of Tokyo Haneda International Airport, Chronogate has a total floor area of nearly 200,000 m 2 and serves as the hub for mail for the metropolitan area and the surrounding Kanto region.
"We have incorporated all our latest technologies into this facility, technology and know-how that have been built on lessons that we have learned in previous generations of logistics plants," said Hiromitsu Aikawa, executive officer of global marketing and development at Yamato Holdings Co Ltd, which opened Chronogate in 2013.
