Ward Diesel Filter Systems has developed an exhaust removal system to improve air quality inside fire stations.
Its patented No Smoke exhaust removal system is an apparatus-mounted, automatic direct-source capture system that meets or exceeds OSHA, NIOSH, and NFPA standards in the United States.
No Smoke comprises an electronic control module, a diverter unit, and a ceramic particulate filter developed by Corning. The device, which activates when a fire/rescue vehicle is started up and stays engaged until the truck is outside, diverts soot and gases away from the exhaust pipe for capture in the particulate filter. It also activates as the vehicle is put into reverse and backs into the station.
