Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have added to concerns over the practical and economic impact of US intentions to ban laptops inside the passenger cabin on US-bound flights.
MEPs from the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) group are pressing the European Commission (EC) to prove there are legitimate grounds for any such decision.
"Any ban is likely to have massive practical implications for people travelling to the US from European Union countries, as well as for airports and carriers," declared Dutch MEP Sophie In't Veld, ALDE vice-president, in a letter to the EC on 16 May 2017.
